Copyright
Our own work, and respect for yours.
Last updated October 5, 2026
Every character, place and story in our books is our own. We never ask our tools for anyone else’s characters, brands or an artist’s style, we check every picture before a book is approved, and we keep a record of how each one was made. If you believe something in one of our books, on this site, or in something a customer uploaded uses your work, please tell us. A person reads every notice.
Our designated agent
Our registration with the U.S. Copyright Office’s directory of designated agents is being completed. Until it is listed here, send notices to hello@ourkindofstory.com, and they reach the same person.
What to send us
So we can act quickly, please include:
- your name, and your physical or electronic signature (a typed full name is fine)
- the work you believe is yours, or a list of them
- where you saw what you believe copies it: the page address, the book’s title, or a description we can find
- how to reach you: your address, phone number and email
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not allowed by you, your agent or the law
- a statement that what you sent is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the right or may act for its owner
What we do
We look at every notice. While we do, we stop showing or selling what you point to. If you are right, we remove it, redraw it as our own, and reprint any copy that has not shipped, at our cost. We tell you what we did.
If something of yours was removed
If you uploaded something we removed and you believe it was a mistake, you may send us a counter notice with your name and signature, what was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, your address and phone, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address. We pass it to the person who sent the notice, and we may restore the material after 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they have filed a court action.
Repeat infringement
We close the accounts of people who repeatedly upload other people’s work without the right to.
The rest of how we work is in our terms, section 8.
